Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill is a British actor. Cavill attended Stowe School, a boarding school, where he acted in many plays.
He has appeared in several films, including 2002's The Count of Monte Cristo and the 2006 film version of Tristan & Isolde.
He auditioned for the lead role in Batman Begins, but lost out to Christian Bale. In 2005, he became one of the younger contenders for the role of James Bond and actually screentested for the part. The producers and director were torn between him and Daniel Craig, but in the end Cavill was considered too young. He also auditioned for the role of Superman in Superman Returns, but lost out to Brandon Routh. In the December edition of Empire Magazine, he was dubbed 'unlucky', but he brushed it off and said that the publicity brings his name out.

He was Stephanie Myers choice to play Edward Cullen in the Twilight movie series but was too old at the time of filming...shame he's much better looking than Robert Patterson.
